The Hudson Valley Figure Skating Club would like to congratulate our member Emma Whitehead on her graduation and acceptance into Sacred Heart University!
I have had the pleasure of knowing Emma since her early years of skating. We trained with the same Coach, and eventually, I began coaching and she became increasingly more competitive. From my perspective, Emma has always been a fighter and will continue to fight her way to accomplish all that she dreams of. It has been a pleasure to be a part of such a huge part of your life, and I am so proud of you! - Larí
There is no better person to advocate for Emma's skating career than her mom, Jenn Whitehead. Emma has been a longtime member of the Hudson Valley Figure Skating Club and has been a huge part of all of the club activities alongside Mom.
"Emma started her skating career at the age of 8. It was a simple family fun day of ice skating that caused her to fall in love with the ice. She loved the feeling of gliding and spinning…but her favorite skill was jumping."
"When Emma was on the ice, she would work hard to get it right, sometimes getting frustrated, but would continue to work on her skills."
"Emma was always a perfectionist..she never wanted to get off the ice until she was happy with her practice. One of her most memorable moments was the ESWG in 2020, just before the pandemic closed everything down. She was an Ambassador to the games, running the torch over the Walkway over the Hudson. At the games, she was honored to walk as a torchbearer at the opening ceremony and given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to light the cauldron as a symbol to start the games. "
"It has been an amazing 10 years watching her skate. Back in March Emma was awarded the USFS Graduating Seniors Program Reward with Silver Level Distinction!!! 🎓✨⛸. "
"Emma always had the support of her mom and dad and two sisters. They were always there to be the loudest to cheer her on. Today, when she isn’t on the ice you can find Emma at the gym, or hanging with friends and family and her 4 dogs! It doesn’t seem possible that the once little girl is now off to college to follow her dreams."
"Following her graduation in June…Emma will be attending the Davis and Henley School of Nursing at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, where we know she will continue to work very hard and will be an amazing nurse one day!! She has also committed to following her heart and will continue skating for the Sacred Heart Figure Skating Team."
"There aren’t enough words to express how proud we are of Emma. Her perseverance, drive, and hard work have made her what she is today. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for her. We know she will be amazing!"
"Congratulations Emma and the Class of 2022 We Love you very much, Mom, Dad, Hannah & Kelsey"
