The Hudson Valley Figure Skating Club is so proud to announce our April Skater of the Month, Riley Marmon! Riley has been a part of our family for years, and her energy brings much-needed life into the rink. She never fails to put a smile on everyone's faces (coaches included!) and is always encouraging others to work hard and achieve their goals. Here's a bit about Riley from the perspective of someone who has stuck by her side throughout all these years (aka: Mom!)
"Riley started skating when she was 3. We threw her into Learn to Skate with her brother who was learning to skate for hockey. There was no intention to have her figure skate, but she was drawn to it. Her perseverance and bravery were impressive at 3 and have been since."
"Riley has always been a hard worker when it came to skating. Her love and passion for the sport are admirable. It hasn't been an easy road for her through the years. But despite the challenges, she has hung in there. She has never complained to go to the rink or been forced to go, in fact, it was the rest of the family that needed encouragement to persevere."
"Riley has chosen skating above sleepovers, school events, social outings, and vacations. Her love for skating is so impressive and we are nothing but proud of her for achieving Double Gold with the USFSA test structure this past March. Riley continues to skate and who knows what she will decide or where she will go with it, but one thing is for sure: it continues to be a passion of hers and brings her so much joy. It has taught her many lessons that she will carry with her for a long time. Riley is still out there, smiling, supporting the other skaters, working, and loving the sport!"
Congratulations, Riley, on all the achievements you have made in skating throughout the years! We will treasure all the memories of watching you out there on the ice, and we look forward to what the future brings.
We love you!!!
